The Perfect Kitchen for Entertaining

There are so many things to consider when planning for an amazing kitchen used primarily for entertaining and we hope to address these in this article.

Layout

A well thought out kitchen plan is essential for creating the perfect kitchen for entertaining. The flow around the room is essential and thinking about where guests would congregate is key to making this work. Ordinarily, a kitchen island is the focal point of a room and where most guests would congregate as an island can make a great place from which to serve drinks and canopes. Although it’s a touch more commercial, stainless steel worktops can work well here although a porcelain top that is stain and scratch resistant may be a good option here too.

Finishes

With an entertaining kitchen, you need to consider high quality finishes throughout. If you can curate different textures and materials that are eye-catching, it creates a talking point when hosting guests. They will want to touch and feel and open units if the finishes and quality are inviting enough – your kitchen is something you should be able to be proud of and want people to ask about.

Practicality

If entertaining a lot you want to choose kitchen cabinets that are easy to clean, just to make your life a bit easier. A lot of larger homes we work in also have secondary kitchens that are specifically to make mess in. Whilst this is not achievable for everyone, if you were able to put a sink and dishwasher in your utility room, dishes from the evening can be taken straight into the utility room so your guests aren’t staring at dirty dishes all evening!

Wine Wine Wine

Okay it doesn’t have to be wine but definitely consider some sort of drinks fridge or wine storage. It’s so practical to have drinks easily on hand and if exposed for all to see, it creates another talking point. Ask your kitchen designers if there is some way to fit in either a bar area, some wine storage or a drinks fridge as this will elevate your hosting game! Another thing to consider is a champagne trough, possibly on the island. This can be plumbed in and filled with ice. During the evening you can fill this with drinks and at the end of the night simply remove the unused drinks and watch the water run away.

What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We certainly weren’t the easiest customers , we weren’t sure what we wanted or when ! However Donna, Richard, Rich and their amazing team guided us through the process with utter professionalism as well as warmth and patience. The results exceeded our expectations, particularly the attention to every detail. They wouldn’t rest until they knew we were happy with everything. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or use them again.

Woodworks provided us with excellent service, from planning and design to finished kitchen

Build quality is excellent and it really does give the house the WOW factor

Our kitchen was part of a new build process for house we have built from scratch. Deadlines constantly moved, and Woodworks worked around everybody to get the job done on time and in full

After sales is very good, with tweaks to doors and cupboards all part of the service!

It has been an absolute pleasure to deal with The Wood Works. Our existing kitchen was 20 years old, and the layout of the room did not make use of the available space. Josh produced inspired ideas for re-designing the whole area, and really listened to what we wanted to achieve, patiently fine-tuning the plans to our particular requirements. We are now the proud owners of a stunning and practical new kitchen which has completely exceeded our expectations. When my sister visited for the first time, she said "it looks like the kitchen of a celebrity chef!" (which I am not). What a transformation. The Wood Works is a family-run business, and that really shows in terms of their professional service, quality of fittings, attention to detail, reliability and easy communication. Nothing was too much trouble. At the start of the project, Josh promised we would have our kitchen by Christmas. I was sceptical as we were in the midst of the pandemic, but they delivered as promised, with no hitches. Thoroughly recommend.
