So we’ll start as always, with the island behind me. Now, this is an unbelievable work surface. This is a granite called cosmic black, and as you can see, it’s got a lovely black base with this white veining. It’s spectacularly patterned. On the island, we’ve used a 50mm thick worktop, so we’ve got a down-stand all the way to the floor. It’s slightly shy from the floor, so we’ve got a bit of L E D lighting running underneath and all the way around to give it a lovely glow – especially in the evenings.
As you’ll see in the rest of this kitchen, we’ve got lighting that’s used to maximum effect here. But as you can see, this island is absolutely stunning. We have a 300mm overhang here for three bar stools on the back of the island so that when you are entertaining, you can keep guests engaged in the conversation, cooking and serving drinks.
Right behind me, you’ll see the main run of units. It’s not a massive kitchen but the frontages are this stunning wood grain black finish, which is actually a laminate finish by Egger. We will start off here with the first unit, which is a 300mm pull-out larder.
So it’s a wired larder, perfect for all of your spices, oils, etc. And you’ll notice that we stop the units slightly shy of the wall here, and we’ve got L E D lighting running all the way round and down again on the other side. So it’s sort of lit on three sides. Creating almost like an L E D goalpost which is a really, really smart look.
As you can see, we’ll zoom in here on these beautiful buster and punch handles that are knurled in the middle, also in black. Really, really lovely bit of hardware. Next unit along on the tall stack, we’ve got a 60 cm fridge freezer. So we’ve got a fridge on top, that’s 70% of this unit, and the 30% is the freezer at low level.
Above here, there’s an extra shelf for storage, and then we get into the main wet run of the kitchen. So this is where the sink is. We’ve got, in a normal configuration for us, the dishwasher, which is a 60cm Siemens dishwasher. We’ve got a double sink unit, which has a matte black pro three Quooker flex tap which dispenses boiling hot water at the push of a button.
This cosmic black granite continues throughout here. This is 30mm thick. But the interesting bit about this is we’ve got the worktop, the cover end, and the top panel as well as the full cladding at the back.
So this whole area is cased in this granite. And right at the back we’ve got another L E D strip light running through which glows and it gives this lovely ambience. On the other side of the sink, we’ve got the bin unit. Again, fairly normal configuration for us above here. We didn’t want to waste this space, so we’ve actually got push to open units above just fully shelved.
We’ve got two double units acting almost as top boxes. Then on the island, again, back to this 50mm thick granite, we have actually a finger pull recess through here, and we’ve got drawers, so loads of drawer storage. There’s space for utensils. This is again for cutlery and utensils. And then there is an inner drawer.
These are Legra box stainless steel sided draw boxes, and they’re push to open drawers at lower level. For pots and pans etc. The hob is a 60cm induction hub, four ring from Siemens, and this is flush mounted, so you’ll notice there’s no gap between the top of the hob and the worktop, it’s all completely seamless.
And then above me here, we’ve got a westinn stratus air, so that is recessed into this bulkhead that’s been built by the builder. It’s a white stainless steel, powder coated, almost blending in seamlessly with this bulkhead above me. And as you can notice, we’ve got some really lovely pendant lights that the client’s chosen.
The other tall stacks are framed nicely, framing the sink area. We’ve got Siemens studio line appliances, so you’ll notice this lovely graphite grey material. We’ve got a single oven at low level and then a microwave at higher level above the oven. We’ve got one of our favourite features, which is the vertical baking tray dividers, so divided internally for trays and chopping boards, et cetera.
And then at low level, we’ve got another cupboard. Shelf internally there. And then finally, the last tall unit on this run is actually just a cupboard, 300mm again to match the other side, and that is fully shelved the clients using this for glassware.
