Luxury Modern Kitchen-Bushey
We are in Bushey, Hertfordshire, touring a client’s new kitchen. This kitchen was an example of our Elements range of kitchens featuring slab matt laminate doors with clean lines and minimalist detailing. We used LED Lighting to accentuate the borders of the kitchen. The island was nice and long for prep space either side of the sink with gorgeous views out to the garden. There was also a standalone bar unit which made this kitchen such a great entertaining space.
Welcome to our latest bespoke kitchen project
Welcome to our latest project. We are in Bushey, Hertfordshire and we’re really excited to show this one to you – it’s a modern masterpiece if we do say so ourselves.
We’ll start where we always start – with the island. As you’ll see, it’s a really modern design that incorporates a 300mm overhang that’s created by having a shallower set of base units on the back and sides of the island. We’ve got space for four breakfast stools here and it’s a lovely breakfast bar area for informal dining with a stone overhang.
The stone is a 20mm quartz. It’s this lovely white base with a grey veining looking a bit like marble, but really subtle. The first tall unit we’ll show is usually the last thing we show but today it’s the first thing – it’s a double door pocket door larder. We have the same stone running through from the main kitchen. We’ve got three drawers which are stainless steel sided legrabox drawers. We’ve got L E D strip lighting on three sides and double thickness shelves which are adjustable. And then you can see here that the client’s got lovely space for their coffee machine and their toaster.
You may be able to see we’ve basically put in this border which is an up and over detail which follows all the way around the kitchen and it’s in this dark brushed stainless steel material and it basically frames this whole kitchen.
On the main cooking area we’ve got a Siemens induction hob which is an 800mm wide induction hob, and then we’ve got the Westin extractor which is a cache slim that’s integrated within wall units.
The wall units are in this lovely matte Navy colour called indigo blue. Again, we’ve got the stainless steel running all the way over the top. And you can see here that it’s set back. And in that recess, we’ve put some strip lighting. It creates a lightwell which is really smart.
The stone comes up from the worktop and carries on all the way up to the underside of the wall units on the hob run. Below the hob, we’ve got a set of drawers. So these are again stainless steel legrabox drawers and then we’ve got this internal utensil drawers within these.
Opposite me here is the wet area in the kitchen and we’ve got the Quooker Pro3 flex that’s in stainless steel. We’ve got the pull-out spray feature and then you’ve got normal hot and cold water in addition to the boiling water. There is a super deep sink which is very practical. We’ve got a waste disposal in there and the waste disposal switch is on the worktop. Sometimes we put it underneath the sink unit sometimes on the worktop, depending on whether they have young kids or not.
Coming into the main tall area of the kitchen, we’ve got a side-by-side fridge and freezer. Above these, we have a simple shelf and then the next unit coming round is a tall corner unit. So rather than wasting this space, we’ve got a studio-height LeMans corner. So there are four trays that pull out with anti-slip mats. And you’re really using all of that storage in the corner.
Next to this, there is more storage. The internal colour is this lovely white wood. It’s like a beige wood grain texture laminate. There is a fully shelved unit. The clients are using actually is a baking cupboard mostly, which is a great use of space.
Coming round into the main cooking section we’ve got two Siemens studio line ovens, single ovens side by side. And we’ve gone for the same trim that is at a high level as the goal post surrounding the ovens. We’ve basically created a border around the ovens, which matches the stainless steel.
Above the ovens. We’ve got this double-baking tray divider. So it’s your vertical baking tray dividers. You can see the clients using it for chopping boards and serving trays. But it’s rare that we get two side by side. So practical, especially if you’ve got lots of chopping boards who you like hosting, and you have lots of dishes and things.
And then below the ovens here, it’s just extra storage, fully shelved below. The client’s got some nice glassware and Pyrex bowls etc. Finally, on the storage side of the tall units, we’ve got a double door, fully shelved unit, fully adjustable, and it’s perfect for China.
Just to point out on the island, these base units come all the way down to the floor and there are some more fully shelved storage units but these aren’t full-depth units.
At the rear of the kitchen we have a real show-stopping feature. We’ve created a bar unit that matches the rest of the kitchen. As you can see, it’s the same Navy colour running through with the same setback ceiling infill detail.
This is a pull-out tray where you can actually lock it into place and use it as a mixing station. We’ve got a double-door wine fridge at low level. Either side of this is some storage, which is fully shelved. And then your bi-folding door mechanism which when opens reveals the magnificent bar. It is again lit on three sides. We’ve got double thickness, shelving, and an antique mirror back panel with a double-stepped shelf for all of the clients’ lovely spirits to display.
