Shaker Kitchen – St Johns Wood
We are in London at a lovely client’s home. We are touring a classic example of our lay-on shaker kitchen. This kitchen features shaker doors but without a front frame which is a slightly more modern design aesthetic than an in-frame shaker kitchen. The existing levels in this kitchen were a challenge and a lot of the units had to be customised to fit certain areas with dropped ceilings and reduced depths but luckily – this is what we do best.
Welcome to our latest bespoke kitchen project
Welcome to our latest kitchen project in St. John’s wood where we have a lovely Shaker kitchen to show you. It’s been spray painted in Little Green Paint Company – Shallows which is a lovely off-white shade and slightly softer than a pure white. Our clients have paired this cabinetwork with beautiful Buster & Punch Chrome linear handles.
The first base unit is this caple under-mounted drinks fridge. This particular model allows us to put a matching frame around the door, which finishes it beautifully. It’s got plenty of storage internally and it’s a two-zone temperature-controlled wine cabinet, with lots and lots of storage for your wines and other drinks.
Moving along this run of units we have a Siemens dishwasher which is fully integrated with wall units for additional storage above. There’s quite a nice detail here which is just a little open shelving area to put some of the clients possessions. We’ve also got a really lovely deep Blanco sink here in a silgranit material and is 70cm wide. This is big enough for all of your oven pans etc.
On the sink is a spray head tap and separately but alongside this is a Zip tap which dispenses boiling, chilled and sparkling water, We chose Chrome for these two taps. The next unit in this run is our classic integrated bin unit which has a handy metal shelf above which is the perfect place to store your bin bags. Above this we have more storage for glasses etc.
Moving along this wall, we have a full size Siemens oven and a combination oven and microwave above. We’ve designed a lovely deep storage drawer below this which has plenty of space and which most of our clients love. We then have a divided section above the oven for baking trays, chopping boards and anything else the client wishes to store.
The next unit along is this beautiful double door American style Fridge Freezer which is by Fisher and Paykel. It’s very useful for hosting as you can place wide trays of food with ease. Below is the deep freezer drawer with another handy internal drawer. This appliance is 90cm wide and is fully integrated with our own furniture doors on the face. It also has an ice maker internally which is fabulous for entertaining. It’s plumbed in so the ice making is automatic.
Sitting alongside this we have designed the client’s double door pantry. This has got a stone shelf matching the rest of the worktops internally. This client preferred two deep drawers for deeper storage. Further along this wall we have overflow storage and in fact one of these units have pull-out shelves at low level for ease of access.
Walking around to the other side of the kitchen you’ll find the main cooking area. We’ve got more storage above and below. Then we’ve got this beautiful Siemens gas on black glass hob with four burners, plus a large wok burner.
We’ve opted for a Western integrated extractor here, the cache slim and below the hob we’ve got cutlery drawers, and then you open it to have storage below that and another deep pan drawer.
Finally the lower section, which is the informal eating area. It’s dropped down to 75cm high which is the ergonomic height for dining. Internally here we have designed a small carousel in this area to make access into the corner that little bit easier. The worktops are a 2cm quartz worktop called Misty Carrara. It’s a slightly off-white with just a grey fleck in the stone.
