Beautiful bespoke spaces to make a house a home

A niche house builder with a focus on the Hertfordshire area – a key client of ours – contracted us to design and supply custom-made furniture across several rooms in a new build – a traditional family home in the rural setting of Radlett.

Hallway
The first thing that strikes you when you enter the property is the stunning hallway. The client wanted this space to set the tone for the rest of the house. The look was achieved by opting for the striking combination of dark stained oak veneer and white upholstery. Lighting was also used to great effect in this entrance, especially in the ceiling coves.

The coat rack space was designed with open carcasses and chrome coat hooks, with a built-in upholstered seating area. The display unit on the left-hand side of the hallway is also complete with an upholstered seating unit that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. As this was to be sold primarily as a family home, an area where kids could easily sit and put their shoes on was considered a ‘must-have’.

Games Room
The next challenge in this home was the use of the loft space which had been designated as a games/living room. The client was keen to incorporate a kitchenette area as part of the space.

Thick stained oak shelves were built into the shape of the eaves whilst the base units were finished in beautiful gloss acrylic. Lit plinths gave the modern edge the client was looking for. A submerged sink and drinks fridge provided a functional yet stylish finish to this bar-like area. A pool table was given centre stage to complete the ‘man-cave’ feel of the room.

Pantry
In many houses, the pantry is solely a storage area, used to house the excess of a rather large shopping trip. However, in this house the developer wished to make a feature out of the room and another selling point for prospective buyers. We designed a completely bespoke fitted pantry which was again both functional and striking. A completely one-off Nespresso® pod drawer was made to house up to 60 coffee pods at a time. Other useful shelves and drawers were incorporated as well as an open wine rack – an increasingly popular feature in new-build homes.
Three solid oak front drawers engraved with the words Bread, Rice & Flour provide unique detailing to this now transformed space. The pantry was finished in dark oak stained veneer.

Study
The Study has been positioned as a contemporary yet sophisticated work space for any prospective buyer. The client opted for a dark stained oak display unit and worktop, set on top of a run of cashmere sprayed lacquer base units. This contrast in finishes works well together and continues the theme of the rest of the home.
The shelving was designed to act as a frame for the TV housed in the centre of the unit.

Master Dressing Room
The master bedroom walk-in wardrobe is a very important feature of this home and our custom-made furniture designs needed to make the right statement. The client requested an open hanging look with both shelves and drawers as well as a bespoke built-in dressing table. The driftwood exterior was finished with bronze studs around the mirror and the dressing table. Mirrored end panels were added to maximise the feeling of space.
