Blending the modern with the traditional

Located in the London suburb of Totteridge, this family home required bespoke fitted furniture in the kitchen and the family room. To get the perfect finish for the house, we worked closely with the client’s interior designer.

Kitchen
The home owner loves to cook and entertain in the kitchen, so it needed to be both stylish and functional. The kitchen furniture also had to be designed to effectively fill the space of the vast open-plan kitchen/dining area.

The client was also keen on the design being modern yet still in keeping with the traditional look of the house. The resulting style was what we call ‘classically modern’. It incorporates a more traditional door style – the shaker door – with a more modern handleless effect.

The Family Room
The client wanted the style of the kitchen to be seamlessly transferred into the family room, but with less colour. It was agreed that a feature wall would be the focal point, with a wall-to-wall display unit housing a TV in the centre.

Finished with shaker style doors in grey stained oak, the unit has detailed columns and lit open niches acting as display areas. To maximise storage and clear the room from clutter, the unit was finished completely handleless, with the base units operating on a push catch.
